According to 2021 Census, Pictou County had a population of 43,657 and it is considered to be the sixth largest county in Nova Scotia. There are five large towns in Pictou County: New Glasgow (pop. 9,471), Stellarton (pop. 4,007), Pictou (pop. 3,107), Westville (pop. 3,540), and Trenton (pop. 2,407). The Municipality of Pictou County, outside of the five towns, has a population of 21,125.
